Designed to welcome as many people as possible.
We want the LUMA website to be as easy to use as possible. This page explains how to use its accessibility features, what we have tested and the limitations we know about. Our development is guided by WCAG 2.2, conformance level AA.
Using the website
- “Skip to content” is the first link in the keyboard navigation order. Links and buttons can be reached by keyboard, with focus indicators provided. The mobile menu opens with Enter and closes with Escape.
- The menu tabs on the homepage support the arrow keys, Home and End. The full menu can be read as one continuous page.
- The reservation calendar is on a separate page and loads only with consent. Withdrawing consent returns focus to the consent button. Alternatively, the booking page can be opened directly on gastronovi.
- Drink details can be opened by keyboard focus or touch as well as by hovering with a mouse. Escape closes the details.
- On the story and gallery pages, the image viewer opens with Enter and closes with Escape. Focus then returns to the selected image.
- Informative images have alternative text. Decorative images have empty alternative text or are hidden from assistive technology. Drink images are accompanied by their names and ingredients. Text describes the progression through the day shown in the hero.
- When your system’s Reduce Motion setting is enabled, the homepage shows a still image and presents all three history chapters one below the other.
Testing the live website
We tested the live website at luma-erding.de on 26 and 27 September 2026. Automated Lighthouse checks covered the homepage, menu, story, gallery, reservation, legal notice, privacy and accessibility pages in both German and English. The automated accessibility checks found no failures across these 16 pages. This did not include the external reservation form that loads after consent.
We also carried out keyboard spot checks in a Chromium-based browser, covering the skip link, menu tabs, drink details, mobile menu, image viewer, and granting and withdrawing consent for the reservation calendar. At a browser width of 320 pixels, none of the 16 pages had horizontal page overflow. Selected text and focus indicator contrast ratios were also measured.
These are partial assessments. They do not replace screen reader testing or a complete review of all content and interaction paths. Full conformance with WCAG 2.2 AA has not been confirmed. This information concerns the website, not physical access to the venue.
Known limitations when booking
The booking service is provided by gastronovi. Our technical checks up to the “Personal details” step identified the following limitations:
- The title and reservation type selectors do not have distinct field names for assistive technology. This may make them harder to identify when using a screen reader.
- The terms and conditions and newsletter checkboxes do not correctly communicate their checkbox role or selection state to assistive technology. As a result, it may not be clear whether a box is selected.
No reservation was submitted. The complete process, including error messages, confirmation and cancellation, has not yet been tested. Opening the booking page directly on gastronovi is an alternative to the embedded form, but it has not been verified as an accessible alternative.
Checks still outstanding
- Testing with VoiceOver in Safari and on physical iPhones and iPads remains outstanding.
- Use at 200% text-only enlargement and 400% browser zoom has yet to be tested. A narrow browser viewport alone does not replace these tests.
- A full assessment of text and focus indicator contrast over photos and across all animation and interaction states remains outstanding.
- Support for Reduce Motion has been checked in the code and through automated functional tests. A complete test of the live website with the system setting enabled remains outstanding.
